Key responsibilities

IS Infrastructure underpins the delivery IS services to the University. The primary function of the Infrastructure Planning and Architecture group (IPA) is to ensure that IS Infrastructure investment provides the University with infrastructure solutions that are strategically aligned to the Universityís long, medium and short-term needs.

The Infrastructure Planning, Strategy and Architecture group provide:

  • ICT Strategy & Planning
  • Development and maintenance of ICT Architecture Standards
  • ICT Architecture Design Services
  • Technical Procurement Support
  • ICT Consulting Services

IPA is responsible for the development and planning for consolidation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) architectures which align with customer needs and integrate with architectures planned within other programs, such as:

  • Client IT interface, IT security and research computing architectures led through IT User Services.
  • Information Systems.
  • Information Management and other enterprise architectures of the University, and ensure that new architecture proposals undergo appropriate quality assurance.
  • Development and communication of documentation standards for ICT architectures.
  • Lead service and ICT architecture reviews for Information Services projects with an enterprise-wide impact.
  • Support high level ICT project managers (including group managers) in the program to facilitate and/or chair technical working groups across Information Services. Such projects and service reviews have enterprise-wide impact.
  • Work collaboratively on challenges with Information Infrastructure across the program, division and University as needed.
