Filtering With Eudora
Every message that is centrally scanned for spam is given a score.
To allow Eudora (and other email software) to filter mail automatically,
a mail header (X-Spam-Score) is added to each email.
To configure Eudora to filter on this header, you must do the following:
-
Open the "Filters" window. On PC versions of Eudora, this can be
found under Tools>Filters. On MAC versions it is under Window>Filters.
-
Click on "New"
-
Select the drop-down-box just below the Incoming, Outgoing and Manual
checkboxes, and type in X-Spam-Score:
-
The next drop-down-box should already be set to "contains". Immediately
to the right of this is where you can choose what Score a message
needs to receive before it is filtered. Messages are scored by stars (*).
Entering more stars here will result in more conservative spam checking (ie.
fewer messages will be filtered as spam). A good starting value is
five stars, but see what works best for you.
-
Select an action. (eg. "Make Priority" "Lowest"). You could also choose
the "Transfer To" option to send these messages to another mailbox, or
to the Trash Folder.
-
If your filter looks similar to the one shown below, close the filter
window (Click on Yes when asked to save changes).
