Shared Folders

By using the webmail interface you can grant other staff members permissions on folders you would like to share with them. This is done by clicking on the "Shares" menu item, selecting the folder you would like to share and selecting the user and permissions to grant.

Webmail sharing folder permissions

The available permissions are:

  • Read - Allows the selected user to see and subscribe to the mailbox, as well as read, copy and search any messages contained within
  • Insert - Allows the copying of messages in to the mailbox
  • Post - Allows filtering directly in to the mailbox (disabled and has no effect)
  • Delete - Allows deletion of messages within the mailbox (but not deletion of the mailbox itself)
  • Admin - Allows the updating of sharing rights of the folder including adding and deleting permissions

Once a user has been granted permission to (at least) read a mailbox, they must subscribe to it before it will appear in their folder list. Subscribing to a mailbox is done by clicking "Folder" and scrolling to the "Subscribe / Unsubscribe" section of the page.

On the right, select the mailbox to subscribe to (more than one may appear if other users are also sharing with you) and click "Subscribe". After clicking "Check mail" to refresh the list, the newly subscribed mailbox will show up and be accessible from the folder list.

Subscribed folders will also be viewable if connecting from a desktop client using IMAP but they will not be viewable using POP3.
