How accessible is the new webmail interface? Can I use it with a mobile phone, Palm/PDA or screen reader?

The webmail system is designed for desktop web browsers that understand HTML, DHTML, javascript and frames. It probably will not work with current mobile phones, but may work with your palm computer/PDA.

SquirrelMail provides keyboard controls that work in the following web browsers:

  • Windows 2000 and XP: Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Mozilla Firefox
  • Macintosh OSX: Safari, Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator
  • Linux/Debian: Konqueror and Mozilla Firefox

SquirrelMail does not meet all World Wide Web Consortium standards for web and software accessibility. If you use adaptive technology with your web browser (screen reader, Braille reader etc), contact the IT Helpdesk for advice on alternative ways to access your University email account.
