Identity and Access Management Project

The University of Melbourne has undertaken an Identity and Access Management Project. This will select a replacement for the ARS System as well as review how the University manages the digital identies and access requirements of its users.

Why replace the ARS System?

The Account Registration System has been the University's central IdM system for the past 15 years. It has performed extremely well over this period and has grown to support over 80,000 staff and students. However, the technology that ARS employs is no longer current and has been identified as a Risk for delivering future projects. The IdMs project will provide enhanced capability around Identity and Access Control such as improved SSO, role based authorisation and federated access.

What will the Replacement Project deliver?

The project is part of a discovery process for the University which will help us to access our detail requirements and future capability in the Identity and Access Management domain.
