Computing Facilities

IT User Services supports a number of computing facilities for teaching & learning as well as researching.

To enquire on Computing Facilities services offered by IT User Services, or for assistance, please contact your Local IT Expert/Lab Manager or via http://servicedesk.unimelb.edu.au .

PC Laptop computers are available for loan to Students.

Located at: Level 1, Baillieu Library

There are two training rooms in the Percy Baxter Collaborative Learning Centre, each contains 16 student and one demonstrator computer. The demonstrator computer is attached to a data projector, has speakers built into the ceiling for sound dissemination and is equipped with the NetOp School software. Other room features include: a whiteboard; a large sliding door; speakers (request in training room 1); access to UniCard printing.

The Percy Baxter Collaborative Learning Centre has around 60 computers available to be used by University of Melbourne staff and students. The computers are located in spacious carrels. Each carrel belongs to a group, some of which have specialised hardware and software.

Student IT manages 2 labs that are available to all currently enrolled University of Melbourne students. Both computer laboratories are located in the building 161: Lab 1 and Lab 2.

All computers have access to printers and the Internet. Printing vending machine for adding printing credit to your UniCard are located in Lab 2.

We have 4 brand new labs, each with 12 user machines and 1 demonstrator machine, plus a colour projector, an overhead projector, and a white board.

Located at: Graduate Centre, Grattan Street

There are PC and Mac labs available for use by Postgraduate Students. These have a range of software installed on machines, with access to scanning and printing facilities. Software includes MS Office, MS Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Adobe Reader, EndNote, NVivo, SPSS programs/modules

The Research Computing Services section is tasked with supporting those ICT requirements of researchers across the University which are beyond what is expected to be provided by their faculty.
