Ordering a Direct Exchange Line
NOTE: These direct exchange lines must not be used for accessing workstations or servers or any other system connected to the University network.
To order a 'direct exchange line' for a modem we'll need an internal order made out to Telephone Systems for the labour to install the line. On this order, list the building and room number where the line will be installed, and a contact name and phone number. See labour(programming) charge . The time required to install a line varies from building to building so I'm unable to give you an estimate, however two hours is fairly common.
Please send orders to Telephone Systems, 2nd Level, 258 Queensberry Street, as Optus do not accept orders unless they come from this office. There is a waiting time of around 10 working days for lines from Optus.
