Visitor Wireless Network
What is the Visitor Network?
The purpose of the Visitor wireless network is to provide quick and easy access to the internet for guests of the University. Guests include short term visiting academics/contractors and conference delegates who are not from participating eduroam institutions.
User accounts can be created for up to one month.
Where is the Visitor network available?
The Visitor network is available in all the same places as UniWireless, for up to date information see the UniWireless coverage maps.

Getting Connected
Information for Staff:
To request an account on the Visitor network for a conference or a department guest, complete the Request for a Visitor Account form. Please allow 1 – 2 working days for account creation after Authorised person approval has been received.
Information for Visitors:
To get connected to the Visitor network, you must contact a faculty or department representative, or your conference organiser who will get an account created on your behalf.
Connecting to the Visitor Network:
- Turn on wireless on your laptop
- Select the Visitor network from the list of available networks
- Launch your web browser
- Your web browse will redirect to the Visitor Network login page
- Enter you username and password and click submit

How much does a Visitor account cost?
Visitor accounts for conferences cost $200 per conference
Currently accounts for single guests are available free of charge. A review of this service will be conducted in 2009 and depending on demand a fee may be introduced to cover data usage.

Conditions of use
Users of the visitor network must agree to the usage guidelines of the visited institution. University of Melbourne Staff and Students as well as our Visitors must be comply with the University of Melbourne Computing and Network Facilities Rules (Regulation 8.1.R7 http://www.unimelb.edu.au/Statutes/r81r7.html)

By accessing the visitor network, you agree that;
- A reputable and updated anti-virus software be active on the computer.
- Your operating system and applications have updates and patches regularly applied.
- All activities and use of UniWireless network is legal and complies with University statutes, policies and guidelines that govern the use of facilities.
- The University is not liable for loss, damage or consequential loss or damage arising directly or indirectly from use of the wireless network (eg: loss of data, interference with data stored etc).
- You will not apply an unreasonable burden on the network (eg: streaming, peer to peer P2P etc).
- You will not allow any other person to use your account(s).
