Windows Server

The LANSG operates the University-wide Active Directory and associated central services including WINS and SUS servers.  As part of this role, we:

• Establish root services and delegate rights to local administrators for services such as Exchange, DFS and SMS.
• Assist local server administrators to migrate from Windows NT to Windows 2000 server environments, by developing migration plans and making available LANSG resources.
• Provide access to online resources including Microsoft's Technet.
• Maintain a mailing list to advise administrators of developments and changes to the Active Directory environment.

We can also advise on on the secure installation, configuration and maintenance of Windows servers and workstations.  Please contact us for further details.
