Server acquisitionITAAG proceduresAll server purchases made with University funds must be considered and approved by the Information Technology Acquisitions Approval Group (ITAAG). In order to gain ITAAG approval, all Windows servers must appear as complete systems on the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) with appropriate operating system compliance. ITAAG may also consider applications for systems from vendors who supply "re-badged" systems containing only components which appear on the HCL. Windows 2003Windows Server 2003 (formerly .NET Server) was released in April 2003 as the successor to Windows 2000 Server. After installing and testing Windows 2003, LAN Server Group has approved its use use on the University network (.doc). Certification and trainingAdministrators of Windows servers are required to have appropriate certification and training as listed in Windows Server 2003 at The University of Melbourne - Certification and Training (.doc). LAN Server Group can provide training materials and will reimburse exam fees upon successful completion.
