March 2009
The following configurations are the preferred minimum configurations for the purchase of new desktop and laptop computers for the University.
Desktop configuration
The Windows Desktop configuration has been agreed by the SOE Reference Group to be suitable for the needs of a significant proportion of administrative and academic users requiring office applications, web browsing, email and other common activities. This configuration will appear on each of the panel vendor web sites. Selection of this configuration will result in optimal delivery times. Some vendors may choose to permanently offer higher specifications at no additional cost to the University. This will be indicated on the vendor web sites.
