eSeminar rooms
eSeminar rooms are specifically designed for seminars and presentations that utilise a diverse range of media. They are suitable for undergraduate and postgraduate classes.
Minimum equipment specifications
- One data projector
- Networked computer (PC or dual boot Mac mini) for the presenter, with USB ports - plug in your own memory stick and/or presentation remote control (such as Keyspan) - you can also log-in to your faculty drive from this computer
Emerging new standard: single dual boot Mac mini running Windows XP or Mac OS X to provide a more flexible environment.
Mac minis start up in Windows XP by default in these learning spaces.
- VCR/DVD combo units (multi-zone) that also play CDs & VCDs (or separate VCR player and DVD/CD player)
- At least one overhead projector (OHP) - OHP transparencies viewable via document camera where OHP not present.

| ** | Access Grid. |
| † | This room contains video conference equipment. |
| ‡ | This room contains a laser disc player. This is obsolete technology which cannot be repaired or upgraded. The equipment will be withdrawn when it ceases to operate. |
You may need the latest version of Acrobat Reader to view these PDF's.
Access arrangements
Presenters need a "LEC" key to access cupboards/lecterns containing installed multimedia equipment.
If you need a new "LEC" key, please contact your departmental administration support.
Building supervisors will open these spaces in advance of all classes and events that have been pre-booked in the central timetable system. Campus security will perform this function during weekends and evenings, if classes and events are pre-booked in the central timetable system.
To ensure a safe and secure campus for all, Campus Security and building supervisors will decline to open spaces if there is no booking in the central timetable system.
Future plans
The capacity of these rooms currently ranges from 20 to 70.
We seek to create more eSeminar rooms with small kitchenettes that offer an optimal capacity of between 30 and 50 students, to accommodate the current and anticipated growth in postgraduate classes and professional programs of this size.
We plan to implement easy-to-use control systems in those spaces currently without this functionality. Our service goal is to make it easier for academics and students to use the multimedia equipment for their teaching and learning. These systems will be either touch panel or push button. At this stage, we plan to complete this project in two stages across summer recess 2007/08 and winter recess 2008. We will complete this project during winter recess 2008.
- Enable laptop connectivity in Arts Centre-222, 317 & 319 (winter recess 2008)
- Deploy document cameras (provisionally during winter recess 2008) to:
- Arts Centre-222, 317 & 319
- Doug McDonell-619/620, 706, 709, 712 & 910
- ICT-206
- Old Physics-201
- During winter recess 2008, consider enabling Lectopia in:
- 200 Berkeley St-G79
- Doug McDonell-619/620
- ICT-206
- Old Physics-201
- Richard Berry-213
- Additional slide projector to Arts Centre-222 (possibly winter recess 2008)
- Enable wireless coverage in all eSeminar rooms without this functionality (summer reces 2007/08)
- Withdraw obsolete cassette players from all eSeminar rooms, except in Arts Centre Building (November/December 2007).
