Access arrangements
Presenters need a "LEC" key to access cupboards/lecterns containing installed multimedia equipment.
If you need a new "LEC" key, please contact your departmental administration support.
Building supervisors will open these spaces in advance of all classes and events that have been pre-booked in the central timetable system. Campus security will perform this function during weekends and evenings, if classes and events are pre-booked in the central timetable system.
To ensure a safe and secure campus for all, Campus Security and building supervisors will decline to open spaces if there is no booking in the central timetable system.
Future plans
The capacity of these rooms ranges from 20 to 42. We regard 25 as an optimal target size for all new spaces of this type.
We intend to pilot a new approach to the utilisation of these spaces by allowing students to use the rooms for informal individual and group work during the day when there are no scheduled classes.
We plan to implement easy-to-use control systems in those spaces currently without this functionality. Our service goal is to make it easier for academics and students to use the multimedia equipment for their teaching and learning. These systems will be either touch panel or push button. At this stage, we plan to complete this project in two stages across summer recess 2007/08 and winter recess 2008.
Deploy VCR/DVD players and document cameras to David Caro-206, 208, 209.
Enable wireless coverage in all spaces during 2007-08 (subject to tender).
