Computing resources
The planned new Eastern Resource Centre & Tate Learning Centre will bring together library and technology. It is designed to function as a vibrant, well-equipped, convenient and efficient place to study and relax.
You’ll have access to the latest technology, from wireless laptop computers to high-end desktop computers with specialized research tools and multimedia equipment. We anticipate that one space with desktop computers will be available 24/7/50 (using secure swipe card for access).
Individual and group study spaces will be available for your study needs.
The facilites will provide you with easy access to a wealth of information resources and information technology, in an environment designed to foster collaborative work, social interactions, and informal learning.
Specialist librarians will provide guidance on the best ways to access and use information
A special innovation will be the introduction of “roving” student helpers that will move around the Eastern Resource Centre & Tate Learning Centre offering you assistance with your IT and library queries.
These developments will enable more students to have on-campus access to Pick IT Up Online – this is an existing service that provides IT skills training, 24X7, when it suits you. The service includes over fifty interactive online modules. Students are using these modules to become more proficient in Microsoft Office, Macromedia's design and media software, project management software, and basic computer skills.
